Overview
This 18th-century lakeside mansion is in a prime location just three miles from the picturesque old city of Como, directly facing the renowned Grand Hotel Villa d’Este. It comfortably accommodates up to 12 guests in six luxurious bedrooms, each featuring exclusive marble bathrooms and serviced by highly professional staff.
Comprising two adjacent aristocratic villas—Villa Maria Taglioni and Villa Maria Serena—dating back to the 18th century, the property has been meticulously renovated and personally furnished by the owners, blending modern comforts with exquisite family heirlooms. The villas are located via a secure gated road and a charming old gatehouse, within seven acres of lush gardens and woods, ensuring privacy and tranquility.
Separated by a historic harbor adorned with ancient terracotta statues, these residences have a rich history. In the early 19th century, the celebrated dancer Maria Taglioni, who also owned the prestigious Ca’ d’Oro on Venice’s Grand Canal, restored both villas, drawn to Blevio’s romantic lakeside ambiance—a magnet for renowned artists and musicians of her era, including Bellini, Rossini, Franz Liszt, and Giuditta Pasta.
Today, Lake Como remains a haven for exclusive artists and prominent families alike, from La Scala performers to Hollywood luminaries like Stephen Spielberg and George Clooney. Public areas of Villa Maria Serena include a frescoed salon with a 1900 Blutner grand piano, a dining room with a double fireplace and direct access to the lakeside terrace, and a modern, fully equipped kitchen with a patio winter garden.
Surrounded by seven acres of lush gardens, the property features a landscaped pool, a panoramic terrace, and a private dock. Villa Maria Serena offers delightful strolls through its parkland, leading to the lakeside village square, a 17th-century church, and a charming pergola in the village garden.
